Four pileated woodpeckers (Dryocopus pileatus) gather on the winds spreading outward. In the center, a sacred fire of four symbolic logs is oriented to the four directions. This woodpecker is known as intelligent and swift in Cherokee culture and is associated with war and bravery. With the protection of the nation, family, and home, the spirit of the woodpecker inspires the Cherokee warrior.
